Put simply, Telia Nevile’s performance of For whom the bell tolls was absolutely brilliant. 40 minutes of beautifully crafted and delivered poetry that really drew you in and you could feel the passion and effort behind the performance.

It was laid out in a “Dear Diary” style of the Day in the life of a Girl on the outer at high school. From heading to school in the morning to P.E. then lunch and the class’s in-between. Overall it was a snap shot of the secondary school years that one endures as it appeared to cover Telia’s introduction to Poetry and the resultant loss in her “Virgilinity”, to having a crush on the English Teacher to being left alone on Prom Night. Each entry was written and spoken perfectly and it was truly hard to fault. Then the delivery about the “Darkness inside” which was rather haunting.

I didn’t know what to expect when I went to this show so was pleasantly surprised, impressed and even moved. It was so well penned and delivered that you went through the highs and lows with this school girl to the point that I almost shed a tear during the poem about not getting invited to the Prom. It sucked you in and kept you wanting more.

I really wish I had the beautiful words to do this performance justice but I will settle for stealing a line from Telia and in her own poetic words, we all got “Word Fucked”
