This was the opening night and everything that could go wrong (almost) did. The plugs, leads, power sources and equipment were all playing up or not the right type, there was another show you could hear through the walls, and the room itself was not the most conducive for comedy.

Yianni also had to refer to his notes much too often for a smooth flow to be built up, but most of the audience stayed for the whole show and there was a lot of good comedy interspersed with the dry sciency stuff about the universe and quantum physics. The need for the notes should be over once he feels more confident in the room (small, drippy, mouldy low ceilinged cave) and by next week I predict that it will be well worth visiting. My one criticism is that he did tend to flit about his subjects a little too much and if he concentrates more on each area it should build to a more coherent whole.
The biggest selling point, of course, is that this is part of the Free Fringe and you only have to pay what you feel the show is worth at the end (into a bucket). If you’ve ever wondered about stuff and don’t have the time to do a physics degree, this is the next best thing (and you won’t have a f^()%ing debt at the end).
