Wendy is a rare person at the festival, as she is actually from Edinburgh, lives in Edinburgh and knows local people, which can cause problems when telling secrets (especially about her mum). The show takes place in a very small and hot room at the Gilded Balloon. Wendy starts the show telling a few secrets about herself and her family and her friends and some people she met. Basically if you don’t want everyone to know your secrets, don’t tell Wendy.
The structure of the show is not a straightforward narrative as Wendy loves going off on tangents and randomly attacking magazines and celebrities, often well deserved too. I definitely agreed with her comments on the career paths of Cheryl Cole and Myleene Klass. We also get to hear about Wendy’s children, her dating mistakes, tragic jobs and a disastrous attempt to take a day off work.
It was a small audience on Monday but an appreciative one. Sadly no-one volunteered any secrets at this show, that may be because of the ones Wendy told us of from the previous night, though it does seem that every comic has a horror story about Aussies in their audience. I’m starting to feel persecuted. The show ran for just under an hour and is perfect for the ladies and any men who love to gossip.
