Part of the free fringe, this is presented in the Larger room at Cabaret Voltaire. The two stars of the show are presenting a daytime TV show for ITV7, which runs for 12 hours every day. Sadly one presenter is new (due to a slight problem the previous week) and much of the show centres on the tension between the two hosts. We also have a wide array of guests including a pair of appallingly stereotyped Australian kids TV hosts who, I’m embarrassed to say did remind me of some people back home and that includes the visible ball sack, one of the remaining Bee Gees (and perhaps one of the not remaining ones), a blind Chinese duo who had just won China’s Got Talent and their doomed search for a wife, an ageing thespian with a tragic tale to tell and a slightly weird entrepreneur.
We also have a little craft segment (using some special ingredients that women are more familiar with than men – nice sandals), a spot of sales and marketing, some very nasty bitchiness, a few swearwords and a huge climactic finale.
Our two hosts play their parts well and there is a little picking on the audience but don’t be scared to sit down the front. An action packed hour of a day on the life of Daytime TV with a collection at the end (20% goes to Breast Cancer Haven) makes an excellent show to see just before you have a sumptuous Scottish dinner.
