Now a popular staple in the Australian comedy circuit, Tom Gleeson comes to the Melbourne Comedy Festival fresh from a sell out run at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Regular spots on the 7pm project, Good News Week, hosting breakfast radio and a swag of other projects have exposed Tom’s quick wit and down to earth delivery to the masses, but the stage is where Tom is most comfortable.

Unlike a lot of shows at this years festival, Tom’s show resists the urge to lay down a common theme or storyline, and is instead a seemingly random collection of anecdotes, thoughts and experience. And why the hell should he have a theme, It’s good old fashioned observational comedy at it’s finest that refuses to be boxed into any category.
Tom loves a rant, and some of the best moments of the show involve watching him get worked up and fuming over the mundane and not so mundane of topics, and it’s hilariously gripping.
Although not overly adventurous comedy, Tom knows exactly what he’s good at, and plays to his strengths. He coverers everything from why an iphone is like a penis, to a personal cancer scare, milking sarcasm and mockery from all corners of his life. He works the audience like a seasoned pro, and succeeds where a less quick witted comedian might fail.
Tom’s relaxed audience banter, explosive anger and confident delivery makes this a sure bet for a night of true blue, gimmick free straight stand up. Nothing new, but a guaranteed laugh.
