Felicity Ward reading from the book of Moron was simply just that. She’s spent time jotting down a few interesting happenings in her life where she’s felt like a Moron, built these into well rehearsed tales and tells them with gusto and passion to an awaiting audience.

The only problem was that the stories themselves just weren’t that funny. It took Felicity all her effort to try and make these funny with a comical set and clothes to match but it just fell short of something. You got the feeling that it was all too rehearsed and written to the point that she often confused herself with tongue twisting descriptions of the stories she was telling. She was much funnier when she let herself go and got involved in speaking to the crowd and adlibbing. A highlight was the “dog” who played guitar as mood music for the stories.

Overall, it was an enjoyable show but it was only good, not great. From having a chat to people outside afterward, they were also expecting a bit more from it. It’s kind of six one way, half a dozen the other as to recommending you go to see this show as I’m sure there’s much better at the festival and I know there’s much worse.
