Eddie Ifft titled his show “Things I shouldn’t have said” so it’s not really surprising that in saying these things again that you’d end up offending a few people. It appeared that about half of the sold out crowd wasn’t quite prepared for his brand of humour.

His show follows its name, revolving around occasions that his self confessed verbal diarrhoea has got him into trouble. Most of the stories were about Eddie “Tweeting” his view on life and everyone’s reaction to this. There was getting arrested for simply being a comedian to either consciously or unconsciously, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time with funny consequences. This journey into the inner workings of his mind was for the most part brilliant and funny, but his slating of Michael Jackson didn’t appear to sit well with the crowd. This may have also hindered his crowd interaction as he seemed unsure of how we would take it.

It was a breath of fresh air to see an International artist that didn’t begin with or keep going back to the easy Australian jokes that you always hear. His show was written for a general audience that was up to date with current affairs albeit with a very American bias. Nothing was safe from his analysis and his no holds barred attitude to saying what he thinks is what we have grown to love about his style of comedy.

I’ve got a high tolerance to bad taste entertainment so I was quite comfortable all the way through and really enjoyed his show but you could tell from some of the audience reaction and his reaction to this that he wasn’t quite prepared to deliver his show to a relatively prudish crowd. I highly recommend Eddie Ifft (and his sold out show would prove I’m not alone) but brace yourself for some of the commentary to have a “holy shit, did he just say that?” factor.
