Sally Goldner
(Australia)
Sally Goldner has gigged around Melbourne’s stand-up circuit for close on two years after her debut on 22 December 2003 (some Christmas present to give yourself). She is a sorority sister of Jeez Louise, the women’s comedy forum held as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and inspired by the fabulous Linda Haggar and is a finalist in the 2005 Search for a FunnyBone competition.
She keeps her microphone slut image stoked by presenting “Out of the Pan” on 3CR 855 AM, at noon every Sunday. No, it’s not a cooking show; it covers pansexual issues i.e. knowing no boundaries of sex and gender. She previously co-presented, with long time friends Jay and Lauren, the transgender issues show “Transmission Time” from 1999-2004 on JOY Melbourne. While at JOY she also presented breakfast, (love that 4 AM wake-up masochism), the weekday morning magazine show Pink Perspective, the All-Australian Music Show and Pot Pourri.
Whether brave or foolhardy, she has also tried to disprove the “good face for radio” theory on Channel 31 Melbourne’s BENT TV in 2001-2002 by both appearing on and later co-producing (with Steve “Love Kitten” Andersson) the pioneering queer panel show, “Squeal.” She has also ripped the gender envelope to shreds as the world’s first male-to-female transsexual drag king, Aussie Boy with performances at King Victoria, now resident at the Star Hotel.
