Rob Lloyd
(Australia)
Rob Lloyd has performed extensively both in comedy and improvisation across New South Wales, South Australia, the ACT and Victoria. Rob started his comedy career as a member of the musical comedy trio ‘The Dodge’ (with Shaun O’Neill and fellow ‘Crew’ member Nigel Walton). Highlights for ‘The Dodge’ were performing in the 2001 and 2002 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the 2001 Melbourne Fringe Festival, and releasing their studio-recorded album ‘Trademark Pending’. When ‘The Dodge’ decided to go their separate ways at the end of 2002, Rob focused his efforts primarily on The Crew as their Artistic-Director. As Artistic Director Rob has overseen: -The Crew’s sell-out seasons at the 2003-2004 Melbourne Comedy and Fringe Festivals. -Their 2003 cabaret-influenced ‘Kitten Kaboodle’ preview season at The Kitten Club (before ‘handing the reigns’ to Justin Kennedy for its extended season). -Two series of their Channel 31 community television show ‘INSTANT TV’ (which was recently re-screened on Adelaide Channel 31). -Their preview season of the Courtroom-based show ‘INSTANT Order: Trial by Audience’ at Glitch Bar & Cinema in early 2006. Rob has performed with The Crew as apart of their Adelaide Fringe Festival seasons: ‘The Duck of Doom’ (2004) & ‘Short Order Impro’ (2006). For the 2006 Melbourne Comedy Festival, Rob along with Brian Hurley and Dan Walmsley created ‘INSTANT Musical Odyssey’, an ALL NEW musical-laced improvised storytelling format, which they performed to sell-out crowds at Glitch Bar & Cinema. Rob has also performed with the Riverina Theatre Company in: ‘Wind in the Willows’ (2003), ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (2004), ‘Toad of Toad Hall’ (2005) which he also co-wrote & GASP: A Gilbert & Sullivan Parody (2005). In his spare time Rob likes to utilise his BA (Acting for Stage & Screen) and Grad Dip Ed (Secondary) and teach Drama in high schools. In early 2006 Rob was invited to be a guest ‘Ensemble Player’ on Channel 10’s big hit ‘Thank God You’re Here!’
