Pete Melrose

Now a resident of his hometown of BrisVegas, Pete started performing standup comedy in 2004 in Melbourne. Early notoriety came when he became one of the very few comics ever to be heckled off the stage at RAW Comedy in 2004! Undeterred, his early notoriety increased as he has gone on to consistently never win another comp, but has been a regular part of the Melbourne and Brisbane comedy scenes, including highlights such as the Melbourne Comedy Festival World Record Attempt in 2006, too many after parties to recall, Champagne Comedy, and writing for numerous street press mags as well as for other comics. He continues to share his tricky political satire, shrieking banter with audiences and lollie throwing, as well as his current distrustm of children and religious holidays because "he cares".

Pete started out about 1.25 million years ago as a 'musician' and was a founding member of the now legendary punk band, Bastard Squad, where he wrote the first song in Australia, "Stick It In", to be recorded with the 'C' word in it (yes, it's his fault your kids use words like that), as well as founding early grunge band Sandpit (the 1980's original one - not the other one). He also appeared on Hey, Hey its Saturday's Red Faces - and didn't win that either.

When it's not all about comedy, Pete is a child Therapist and Child protection consultant. He is also working on a PhD in Human Rights Practice - but that's beside the point.

Pete performs regularly in Melbourne and BrisVegas in what he calls 'seasons' where he writes and performs for about 7 months, then disappears and emerges later as a new comic (same name) with new material, occasionally however, he performs as 'Ginger Vitas' or "Peter Turtle" because he wishes that these were his real names.

"Pete Melrose the man did not fail the crowd, the laugh level rising with every gag". (Show Review)

"Pete Melrose is a clever emerging comic", (Beat magazine)

"Pete Melrose is complete tool and we wish we had never heard of him" (Pete's parents, partner and children).
