Karin Muiznieks (Australia)
Karin Muiznieks is an enthusiastic young comedy writer and performer on the Melbourne scene. She gained her Associate Diploma in Music Theatre from Trinity College London 2004 and graduated from Ballarat Arts Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre Performance. She has studied Voice for 13 years and Acting for 9 years. Karin is also highly skilled in Music Theory and plays piano. She’s a terrible dancer.
Her first comic cabaret “Arrogance is Bliss” was performed for the inaugural Melbourne Cabaret Festival in July 2006 and was ranked #2 by the Herald Sun in their Top 5 Events of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival. Since then she has been performing stand up at various venues around Melbourne.
Aside from comedy Karin has performed with many choirs and orchestral ensembles in Melbourne including the Victorian State Children’s Choir and was Concertmaster of The University High School’s Barklamb Orchestra. Aside from performing Karin has composed Jazz, Pop and Classical music for various projects. She was Assistant Director and Shakespearean textual coach for “A Midsummer Night’s Musical” directed by Anthony Crowley for The Ballarat Arts Academy 2004. Her featured roles at BAA include Sukie Rougement in “The Witches of Eastwick” and Ulrika Dansatidsof in “Jumpin’ the Q”. Other shows include “42nd Street”, “Sweet Charity”, “Cabaret Project 2005” and “Showcase 2005”.
