Anthony Menchetti

(Australia)

Since being crowned National Winner of Raw Comedy in 1996, Anthony’s Menchetti’s star has continued to rise. Chosen to be part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s showcase of rising stars The Comedy Zone in 2001, Anthony went on to perform his first Comedy Festival show The Art Of Schmoozing in 2002. He and then-comedy-partner Damian Clark were hastily snapped up by renowned comedy producer Karen Koren of The Gilded Balloon, and The Art Of Schmoozing went international – being performed to rave reviews under Koren at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

On the success of these shows, Anthony tackled Murphy’s Law in 2003, spawning two shows – One Of Those Days (MICF 2003) and Murphy’s Law, the latter of which was again snapped up by Koren for the Edinburgh Fringe (2003). Both runaway successes in their own right, Anthony’s solo debut created unprecedented industry buzz in Melbourne, and was chosen in Edinburgh as one of the top 10 shows to see by The Times (London).

To date, Anthony maintains a regular position on Foxtel’s thecomedychannel as both a featured comedian and presenter of comedy-related documentaries. Anthony is a key cast member of the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow and this year sees Anthony take his latest show ‘Ants Pantz’ to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival once again where he will also host and produce a documentary for thecomedychannel interviewing the UK’s biggest names.
