Only ten days before it was due to start The World’s Funniest Island, also being branded as the ‘Australian Comedy Festival’, in Sydney has been cancelled.
A ‘Drop off in Sponsorship’ has been blamed. It is disappointing for everyone involved including The Australian Comedy Review because we were looking forward to providing our readers with video reports from the festival.
Performers were to have included Micheal Winslow (US) Paul Provenza (US), Will Durst (US) and Aussies Jane Turner and Gina Riley as Kath & Kim, Will Anderson, Peter Berner, Mikey Robbins, The Umbilical Brothers and many, many more. The website apologises and says “All ticketholders will be refunded via their credit card within fourteen business days.”
Our condolences to all who were appearing or who were planning on attending and had paid for plane tickets, accommodation etc.
