Improvention is the first national convention on the art of Improvisation ever held in Australia. From July 21st to the 25th at The Street Theatre in Canberra, representatives from every major group of improvisers in Australia will gather for a convention and performance festival that organisers hope will raise the profile and integrity of improvisation to similar levels as those enjoyed in Europe and the Americas. Session presenters will include Rebecca De Unamuno, Patti Stiles, Rama Nicholas, Marko Mustac, Glenn Hall and many more still to be confirmed.

Improvisers will discuss co-operative development, whilst other industry sectors will get a rare insight into the genre, and audiences will experience everything from the edge-of-the-seat high-risk comedy they’ve come to expect, to serious improvised longform drama, to a fully improvised musical in the style of Stephen Sondheim.
For further details about the convention, visit their facebook page, visit their website, email gspromo@gmail.com or phone Geoff Setty on 0416007197.
The shows included in the performance program include ‘All-Star Sink or Swim’, ‘The Heat Is On’ (the Canberra player’s heat of the Impro Tournament), ‘The Barbarians’ (the out-of-towners’ heat of the Tournament) and the Grand Final of the ‘Canberra Impro Theatre Challenge’. Tickets for these shows can be booked through The Street Theatre website.
