Once the Melbourne International Comedy Festival winds down, the performers splinter off in different directions. A number of these acts head across the Tasman to take part in the New Zealand Comedy Festival.

Australian Acts

After nabbing the top awards at this year’s MICF, some of those performers are off to show the Kiwis how it’s done. Barry Award winning Sammy J and Randy (Heath McIvor) are bringing their show Ricketts Lane to both Wellington & Auckland. Claudia O’Doherty is bringing her show Monster of the Deep 3D to Wellington only while “The Cliff Young Shuffle pops up in Auckland only.

It’s been a while since he’s done stand up, but Rove is doing a run of shows in Auckland. Felicity Ward is making her NZ debut with Textbook Idiot in Auckland while the adopted son from Cripple Creek, Wilson Dixon is performing American Dream in both Auckland and Wellington. Heath Franklin’s Chopper will attempt to Make Deadshits History in both cities while Jimeon performs Something…Smells Funny (he has already SOLD OUT Auckland with limited tickets available in Wellington).

Those from further afar

Andrew O’Neill is performing Occult Comedian in Auckland only and Jason Cook is doing two shows Fear and Jason Cook’s Asylum. Jeff Green will perform Crazy From the Heat and Josie Long is doing her latest show Be Honorable.

Julian Cleary brings his show Lord of the Mince to NZ while Maeve Higgins counters with A Rare Sight. Marcell LuCont will look down on the Kiwis in Auckland with his show Sexual Metro while Phil Nichol will divide punters with A Deadpan Poet Sings Quiet Songs Quietly. Pablo Francisco and Pauly Shore are also bringing their stand up shows to the Auckland.

Everyone in New Zealand should clear their diaries for the next month so that they can get out there and see some shows!
