After a BMX stunt gone awry left comedian Dave O’Neil with a shattered knee, he has been forced to cancel (or at the very least postpone, according to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival website) his festival show Dave O’Neil is Happy To Be Out of the House.

A stunt in which Dave attempted to jump over his Vega FM co-host Ian “Dicko” Dickson on a BMX has led to surgery and crutches for the comedian. I’ve been out of the house twice in two weeks, he says. It’s hard when you still have a brace on your leg. I also didn’t want to go on stage in crutches, I wanted to go in 100 per cent. I don’t want to break something else by being stupid.

The MICF website has stated that sales for his Comedy Festival show have been suspended until Dave is in a position to make a decision about whether or not any or all of his shows will be able to go ahead. In the event of a total season cancellation, all tickets purchased pre-accident will be fully refunded.
