Starting at the almost lunch time of 11.30, this is a fun way to open your comedy eyes to the day. Host Diane Spencer is the MC and does an excellent job of warming up the audience for the three acts. She tells some stories about her time as a drama teacher and living in NZ and gets the audience to do some silly things for her own amusement. It’s not scary and you’ll probably enjoy it too….

The first act is comedy poet Robert Auton who does some amusing poems and has some interesting props. Very shouty though, as befits a proper poet. Second on the bill is a rather tired appearing Sarah Pearce who tells a few stories about boyfriends and charitable work, none of which I believed (except the Absinthe drinking). Not sure about the Chat Psychic mag reading, but I suppose it’s a community service warning people these things exist and should be avoided. Finally we had Mark Burrows who also used the audience to demonstrate a point about the festival and told some entertaining stories about stuff.
So a good hour of comedy, some maybe not to everyones taste, but enough to make most people laugh and a good way to start the day.
