So after a couple of years in a cramped room down a back alley late at night, the Shitty Deal Puppet Theatre Company have finally made it to the big time. Will fame go to their heads and ruin one of the tackiest troupe I have had the luck to see? Well…..

This year the show is in the cocktail bar at the Zoo in the afternoon. So we have a larger room, a more sober crowd, but added beer.
The stage still has the usual stained bedsheet to hide the puppeteers, but now we have the added luxury of a backdrop for special effects later in the show. The star of the tale is Mr Doper who is forced to go into Syria to rescue his buddy Burrp and the President’s daughter (the white one – played here by Barbie), who have been captured by terrorists. As Mr Doper and his friend Bunny (I think that was his name, it was a bunny puppet) chase the terrorists from Syria through Germany and finally to the USA, we are treated to discussions on the history of Middle East politics (including a chat between Jesus and another phophet who may be called Mohammed, excursions into the secret world of torture in the new world and a fair amount of dirty puppet on puppet action.
There is still the same amount of bad language and terrible puns, jokes and celebrity references as in previous shows but this year we also have the added delight of the special effects which, although shitty, are also very funny. The music used throughout was from a number of war films (and Terminators) and added a lot to the feel of the show. The room was so full that extra chairs had to be brought in and it is selling out so get your tickets now and get there early so you can get a seat near (but not too near) the front.
