So, after their success at the Festival last year, was this to be a case of second album syndrome? NO!

The show started, in their new venue with a full room and boisterous crowd, to a voice over giving us a typically bombastic movie preview style introduction, which led into an hour of fast paced sketches including the return of Bev and the Bevettes from last year, a copper you don’t want to mess with, a night out in Ibiza like you wouldn’t believe, some pole dancing, Goldilocks updated, therapy sessions with some of the worst (ie best) puns in the festival, a Tudor take on Britain’s Next Top Model and a funky funereal finale.

The girls (ladies? team perhaps?) all participate equally with no-one trying to hog the limelight, and the sketches flow so smoothly that you can see they are at the peak of their form but haven’t been doing the characters so long they’ve become stale (very fine line). One sketch may not reappear as they sort of hinted it was causing problems when they started (Newsnight book review – very tacky but well made point about media obsession with exposing damaged people for our amusement), but as a whole the show is one of the best things I’ve seen at the fest this year. The audience applause at the end was by far the loudest I have heard for any show in ages. It’s selling out again this year so get your tickets fast and you won’t regret the decision.
