Pip and Finn are The Green Crusaders, and you can be a green crusader too. It’s not hard, just put the right things in the recycling bins, don’t waste water, and turn the lights off when you leave the room.

This is the primary message of this snappy, entertaining kid’s show that can be found tucked away under the Town Hall for the next two weeks of the festival. The message is delivered to the audience by the way of Greg (who is wearing a t-shirt marked ‘Phil’, but that’s the t-shirt’s name), who doesn’t want to help the environment and runs around actively leaving on lights, wasting water, and using plastic shopping bags. Using rap, demonstration, dance, many a bad pun and many a silly chase sequence, Pip and Finn use the show’s thirty-minute running time to try and change the world- one person at a time.
The show is heavy on audience participation, which meant the kids in the audience (the intended age range seemed to be 4-to-8 year-olds) really lapped it up, all very keen to get on stage and help the crusaders chase down Greg and get him to change his ways. But it’s strictly kid’s fare- the adults in the audience certainly laughed along with the kids, but it’s telling that the biggest laughs came from things the kids themselves said once they were up on stage. The target audience, however, were clearly having a ball, and there was a decent and simple message to boot. Recommended for kids.
