“My Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Life” is the story of her Alison Bice’s life. From a father that thinks she’s gay to a mother with a wealth of issues, she’s had an unusual upbringing and this gives her a wealth of material.

Alison’s borderline crazy stage persona is a source for constant amusement. There’s a sense that she could snap at any moment and this keeps the audience constantly involved.

It’s great to see Alison finally find her feet as a solo festival performer. Previous shows have seen Alison working a lot of acting into her performance and this has really clouded her fantastic standup abilities. Here the show is pretty much pure storytelling, and her unique sense of humour really shines through.

Alison is a great performer who is really starting to hit her stride. It’s going to be great to see where she goes from here.
