He was a man with a mission, a man who loved movie trailers, a man with a mystery to solve, that man was Danny McGinlay in Coming Soon. Using the theme of movie trailers Danny has written a well crafted, highly entertaining show that delivered its promises. Danny is a friendly talented performer who makes the audience feel welcome and has a great yarn to impart.

I can thoroughly recommend this as a show you can safely bring your friends to for a fun night out, or even your family. So why not take a trip with Danny through Scotland and Ireland as he discovers his roots and tries to solve the mystery involving his Irish grandfather? He tells us how he gained his love for movie trailers and how he realised they could encapsulate a biography or life story which leads him to find out about his own family background.
It would have been nice to see some of the real movie trailers that he describes and sends up, but I can imagine that they could prove fairly costly for a poor fringe show. So instead, slotted throughout the show were charming and often hilarious home-made pre filmed trailers that helped tell his story. My fave involved some Bollywood style dancing. Danny also deftly included some banter with the audience, some of whom turned out to be from Britain.
Along with the wild and funny tales, there was a sad point in the show where Danny learned something about his dad that was handled really well and created a moving counterpoint to the rest of the show. The main thing that came shining through his story was that Danny comes from a long like of good storytellers and he’s doing them all proud.
