Back for 2011, 7pm every Sunday on SYN 90.7FM (Melbourne)

After runs in the UK, America and Canada where it has become an ‘anti-holiday’ cult classic, David Sedaris’ Santaland Diaries makes it’s Australian premiere in Melbourne.

Written by the award-winning American humourist, comedian and best-selling author David Sedaris, it is the truly hilarious and bizarre account of the year he took a temp job as an elf at Macy’s in New York. With dreams of being a writer for One Life to Live he instead lands a part-time job as a Macy’s Christmas elf named Crumpet. From humiliating interview to elf indoctrination to scrapes with miscast Santas and obnoxious customers the author’s real-life experiences are merrily subversive.

This version stars Melbourne’s own improv and comedy legend Russell Fletcher, fresh from a Speilgeltent season of The Danny Kaye Show and is directed by Joe Mantello.

So ditch the Nutcracker, mute White Christmas and have a frozen Christmas daiquiri while laughing their way through one of the wittiest holiday confections ever concocted.

The SantaLand Diaries runs from December 3rd to 24th at Auspicious Arts Incubator (166 Sturt St, Southbank, Melbourne). Visit the Santaland Website for further details. Bookings can be made through EasyTix or phone 03 9639 0096).
