Knowing what to expect having seen this company’s sister show lst year (The Guide to Oppressed People Everywhere, on 20 minutes after this show finishes), I went into this show with very few expectations of learning about art. Good thing too. This show is a complete shambles of dirty (smelly?), broken down puppets shouting and throwing things while explaining what art is.

We start with the Big Bang and move onto dinosaurs. Funny none of their art survives. Then it’s the culture clash between homo sapiens and Neanderthal, before coming to Greece (naughty statues), Rome (stole everything), the Dark Ages (bunch of idiots), the renaissance (bunch of snooty idiots) and so on up to until today. They then deal with the world of cinema, books, music and theatre, managing to pack an entire other Fringe show into 20 seconds so there’s value! I won’t say which Fringe show as they might not appreciate the homage.

So there you have it. 40 minutes of chaotic mayhem by a bunch of people who spend too much time laughing at their own jokes and attacking one anothers credentials in a show of little redeeming cultural value. I loved it! See it slightly drunk for best effect (very easy with the late start time and the pub just across the laneway). See both shows in the same night if you think you’re hard enough. See it if you love bad taste comedy and poorly made sets. Just see it.
