On Sunday night at the Bella Union Bar The Groggy Squirrel were very excited to announce our Squirrel Grip Awards for 2008. Sporting two large, plush, hand made squirrel sculptures for trophies, Annette Slattery and Daniel Sheppard took to the stage.

The first award announced was The Groggy Squirrel Critics’ Award which is open to local (Australia and New Zealand) acts only. The nominees in this catergory were:

The Groggy Squirrel Readers’ Award which is voted for online and is open to every act of the festival went to New Zealand’s Sam Wills for The Boy with Tape on His Face. The nine runners up for this award were, in order:
