The Nominees for the 2008 Barry Awards and the Golden Gibbo Awards have been announced. The nominees for this prestigious award include two artists from the UK, one from the US and three from Australia. 2008 also see the second nod in a row for Australia’s Fiona O’Loughlin.
The contenders for the 2008 Barry Award are:

Josie Long (UK) – Trying Is Good
Fiona O’Loughlin (AUS)
Sammy J (AUS) – Sammy J In The Forest Of Dreams
Justin Hamilton (AUS) – The Killing Joke
The Barry Award will be presented on Saturday 12 April at the Hi Fi Bar and Ballroom, in what is traditionally the last night of the Festival Club.
Other awards be presented on this night include The Melbourne Airport Best Newcomer Award, The Age Critics’ Award, The Directors’ Choice Award, The Piece of Wood (comics choice award) and The Golden Gibbo.
