Reginald D Hunter
Mr Reginald D Hunter is the king of laid back humour. This wonderfully honeyed American has resided in the UK for a decade now and this year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival sees his Australian debut show.

The audience is treated to a highly accomplished set of stand up in this show, covering a pot-purée of material, from intimate appraisal of the benefits of having seen one’s own arse hole, to much covered subjects like the difference between men and women and the differences between Americans and everyone else. However, even when he goes to this oft trodden turf, he is never hackneyed, bringing his own deliciously original slant to the topics.
Occasionally Reginald D Hunter walks very close to the line of being actually offensive but pulls it back expertly, keeping everything he says on the right side of the irony fence. This adds depth to his comedy, which on the surface seems broadly accessible. This gives this show from this talented American enough of an edge to make it memorable beyond the experience of just an enjoyable night out.
Roughly speaking this show consists of a series of topics with little link other than the presence of the man delivering them, however Reginald does tell a beautiful story about a Japanese film at the end of the show which not only holds the audience spell bound, it is tied up neatly with a terrific call back punch line which rounds out the show.
What you with get with Reginald D Hunter is simply a great show, busting at the seams with laughs.
