Fox Klein – I’m Telling You For The First Time… Again
Fox Klein returns to the Trades Hall with the accumulation of his year’s stand-up material.
The show is introduced by ‘warm up act’ Stefan Popovic, who give a tight five including some audience chat about Geelong and Werribee some brief material on his parents. His material didn’t get a lot of laughs from the small audience, but his personable presence did get the crowd in the mood.

After Stefan’s introduction, Fox took to the stage. Taking note of the small audience size, Fox called out to see if there was any Myspace friends in the audience and launched into some material on the Myspace-Facebook migration. This material was probably the weakest of the set – It was unclear as to whether this was due to audience ambivalence to the subject of just because they weren’t warmed up sufficiently yet.
But after the shaky start, Fox quickly had the audience back on side, going through some material on drunk dialing and technology. His material about the creepiness of the night-vision mode on cameras seemed to connect well with some of the audience and he quickly build up a rapport with some people in the front row over the sexual material. This gave the rest of the show a boost as it gave Fox the opportunity to embellish his material with the direct audience interaction and get him some good laughs.
Rounding the show out with material on growing up in Geelong, Kung Fu, Blockbuster and relationships, Fox’s affable manner kept the audience constantly amused. This isn’t a groundbreaking show, just a lot of solid and accessible stand-up. It’s a pleasant enough way to round out a night at the fest.
