Having worked together often since meeting during last year’s Raw Comedy, Cath Styles and Anna Log have joined forces to present Extreme Blonde at this years Comedy Festival. In addition to displaying their stand up talents, they are joined each night by a different guest performer.
The girls have assembled a impressive line up of guests including Bev Killick, Mandy Nolan, Sally Kimpton, Jodie J Hill, Nicky Talacko, Ellen Briggs, and Vera Mackney. According to Cath “everyone was very keen, despite the fact that a number of the girls have their own festival commitments, and others will be travelling from various states to take part. I think all the girls wanted to support the show because they felt it was an innovative concept that had the potential to inject the festival with a bit of fresh talent. And because it’s a fun thing to be part of.”

When prompted to nominate the most anticipated guest Cath diplomatically replied “All of the comics performing are top notch, and we’re thrilled to have them. But we’re particularly excited to have Sydney stand-up and actor, Sally Kimpton, performing in three of our shows. Sally’s fresh from competing in NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ in Florida, where she made it through to the top 17 comics, and was one of only 4 Aussie acts to make it onto the ‘International Comics’ episode of the show.”
The talent appearing at Extreme Blonde encompasses females spanning a wide range of experience. “Apart from all of the girls sharing a passion for stand-up, there is a common (blonde!) thread of similarity, in that all of them are very real, and very honest in their comedy, which means that everyone will be able to find something to identify with in their material. These women aren’t exactly shy girls – it’s fair to say that all of them can be a little bit wicked, or ‘extreme’, occasionally!”
The title Extreme Blonde may imply rather confronting humour from these ladies, but Cath assured me that gentlemen needn’t feel intimidated. “Unless they start telling blonde jokes, (which would be ill- advised!), men shouldn’t be afraid to come! The material is contemporary stand-up, so yes – there will be occasional adult language and themes…The fact that it’s not overly PC should make it more appealing to guys – they’ll love it!”
Extreme Blonde runs from March 20th to April 12th. The final show is entitled Extreme Blonde Highlights which features all the guests who appeared during the season.
