Applications for The Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Awards are now open for 2008.
The awards, which are named in memory of Brian McCarthy, a comedian who died tragically at the age of 23, are designed to help support the recipient with the production of their comedy festival show. This support incorporates areas such as marketing, photography, publicity and general professional assistance. With the assistance of The Comedy Channel recipients also receive the creative support of a professional director.
“Justin Hamilton”:comic, a 2007 recipient of the award went on to win the Festival Directors Award along with The Groggy Squirrel Critics’ Award. Other previous recipients include “Judith Lucy”:comic, “Lano & Woodley”:comic, “The Empty Pockets”:comic, “Rachel Berger”:comic, “Anthony Morgan”:comic, “Meshel Laurie”:comic, “Adam Richard”:comic, “The Four Noels”:comic, “Tim Harris”:comic, “Corinne Grant”:comic, “Gerard McCulloch”:comic, “Lawrence Mooney”:comic & “Damian Callinan”:comic, “Kim Hope”:comic, “Clare Bartholomew”:comic and “Scott Brennan”:comic.
