This is the third year that the Trachtenberg family have allowed Edinburgh to glimpse inside their strangely fascinating world and, along with the regular feature of songs played to slides, we also get a short sitcom at the start of the show. The sitcom is of the TF at their apartment in New York and shows a little of their daily life along with a laugh track (as all US sitcoms have). I can’t see the sitcom getting TV deal but it’s no stranger than _The Osbournes_ and there is less swearing and stuff.
The major portion of the show involves the family singing songs to a series of slides. These slides are sourced from boot sales and deceased estates across the US and depict life in the 50s to the 70s. There are a couple of songs from previous years plus a number of new tunes to entertain the audience. If you enjoy looking at a family which defies conventional norms and enjoys the bohemian lifestyle, then this relaxed and groovy show could be just the thing for you. Plus you can buy all sorts of merchandise after the show (including a DVD!). If you want a further look at the family, them bring the kids along to Rachel’s lunchtime show as well.
