Back for 2011, 7pm every Sunday on SYN 90.7FM (Melbourne)

The Electric Cabaret has a different line-up every night, including MC changes, so each night will have it’s own highs and lows.

The show on the 9th featured Tom Deacon as the MC (who I saw the previous day in the Amused Moose Hot Comedy Starlets show), and he did a good job of firing up the small crowd in this underground venue., including getting the crowd to tell a little about themselves.

The first guest act for this evening was the sketch troupe Mixt Nutz and they performed four short and punchy sketches. Next up was the duo Sing-A-long-A-Joy-Of-Sex who performed a couple of numbers from their festival show, one about what the school didn’t teach us and the other about the injuries that can happen when one experiments in the bedroom. If you enjoy songs about ‘naughty things’ then I recommend checking out this show as well.

The final act for the evening was Yianni Agisilaou, who I last saw three years ago when he was on holiday back in Melbourne. His festival show this year is about things we were told in school that were absolute tosh. He has a love of words and was perhaps going a bit too far with the verbiage for this late night crowd, however he was very funny and the audience enjoyed his routine. All three of the ‘guest’ acts are performing in shows at the fringe. They are all FREE and I recommend seeing them if you’re in the vicinity.
