Well, it had to happen. I was the sole audience member (audient?) at this late night show right on the edge of town but Queenie, being the old trouper she is, performed the full show just for me. It was a bit of a worry as she does like to bring the audience into the action.

The show starts with Queenie doing a partial strip as she sings her opening song then introducing the setting of a doctor’s office where we’re all waiting for our flu shots. This gives her an opportunity to do a whole series of songs and dances to a captive audience. The songs are mostly old tunes with new and dirty words and, for the most part, are witty and pertinent to getting older (about wearing incontinence pads, taking pills to maintain performance, etc).
The whole show takes about 45 minutes and was possibly a bit too long for one person to sustain the joke. Queenie may have the spirit to keep the show going but her voice was giving out in a few places, as was her memory. Still, if you want to see someone who’s determined to give a big performance and aren’t afraid of being molested by a 74 year-old then why not make the trip out and see the show? Lots of good restaurants and the bus stop right next door too.
