This is a series of sketches linked by that evil and noxious brew, Absinthe. The audience are even given a small sample on arrival to relax them for the hour ahead. The show is MC’d by The Cad, who imbibes as he tells the tales of madness and debauchery that are the hallmark of Absinthe. The rest of the cast in this show perform a number of sketches among which we have the most evil little boy in the world, the castaway who falls for a coconut, the tragedy that is internet dating and how to fake a facial tic if you need to escape from your date, the new army recruitment quotas and how to get rich by bending the rules, and the sex-offender olympics.

Most of the sketches were good and kept to a reasonable length (and were occasionally revisited). There were a couple that didn’t really work with the audience but for most of the show the laughs were genuine and the cast kept the amusement levels up. So if you want to try a little absinthe (you even get instructions) or want to see a sketch show with a bit of a difference, then this is a very good choice. Oh, and The Cad does reveal a bit more than any of us wanted to see!
