Happening a month earlier than usual, the Darwin Fringe Festival showcases the talent of Northern Territory artists across a variety of art forms. Comedy is represented with a number of events including the following:
In “Librarian Idol”, Andrew Finegan is on a quest to make Librarians cool again. Armed with his keyboard, Andrew The Librarian presents his unique hybrid of comedy and cabaret. He performs on 6th-7th and 12th-14th July at the Darwin City Library Theatrette.
On Thursday 12th of July, Club Fringe presents an evening of stand up with a special Fringe version of Comedy Shop at Happy Yess. This night features the cream of local comedians. Stand up will also feature at Club Fringe @ Brown’s Mart on Saturday 14th alongside DJs and live music.
The Liger Dance Troupe present two huge dance spectaculars as part of Fringe. A couple of months ago they put out the call for all and sundry (with no dance experience necessary) to learn two dance routines. As part of the opening night party on Thursday 28th of June, a sea of people in “Vote for Pedro” Tshirts and afros will perform the classic dance routine seen in the film “Napoleon Dynamite”. At lunchtime on Friday 13th of July, an army of the Undead will dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.
Darwin Fringe runs from 27th June to 15th July 2007. Check out “Darwin Fringe”:http://www.darwinfringe.com.au/index.php for further details.
