Back for 2011, 7pm every Sunday on SYN 90.7FM (Melbourne)

Winter has arrived, the Melbourne Comedy Festival is over, and the Melbourne Fringe Festival won’t be around till spring. This is a time in Melbourne when comedy fans traditionally spend a bit more time at home, maybe rugged up with a few DVD’s and a newly acquired kitten called “Boo”. However this June sees a few notable gigs apart from the regular rooms happening around the city, including Edinburgh fundraisers and a season showcasing some of the best female comedic talent Australia has to offer, all of which should liven things up for local comedy fans.

Four of Melbourne’s young comedians have gotten together to assemble a lineup to help raise money for their the Edinburgh Fringe campaigns. Nana’s Cardigan Party! – Melbourne To Edinburgh Fundraiser Show has been put together to raise funds to get “Kate McLennan”:comic, “Andrew McClelland”:comic, “Lawrence Leung”:comic and “Asher Treleaven”:comic on their way’s to Ed. Entry is $20 but dress like your nana or pop and get in for the cheaper seniors citizen price, Wednesday 13th June, 8pm, The Spanish Club, 59-61 Johnston St Fitzroy.

From the 19th of June to the 30th June (Tuesday to Saturday) some of Australia’s best known and best up-and-coming female comics will be appearing in a two week run of MISS (you) MELBOURNE at Trades Hall (Old Council Chambers). Proudly supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants Program, this is a show all about this glorious city of Melbourne. The lineups for this two week run will change nightly and include “Rachel Berger”:comic, “Corinne Grant”:comic, “Judith Lucy”:comic, “Sue Ann Post”:comic, “Geraldine Quinn”:comic, “Christine Basil”:comic, “Sandy Gandhi”:comic, “Cal Wilson”:comic, “Nelly Thomas”:comic, “Denise Scott”:comic, “Tanya Losanno”:comic, “Alison Bice”:comic, “Geraldine Hickey”:comic, “Celia Pacquola”:comic, “Terri Psiakis”:comic, “Andrea Powell”:comic and “Bec Hill”:comic.
