He may not look the part, but Richard McKenzie is a nerd – a proper one, with comic books and dungeons and dragons and the whole set – and he’s here to share his nerdiness with you.
Searching through his extensive archive of comic books, we get to see the Golden Age of comics when racism was expected and random violence was the order of the day. Showing us various lame superpowers as DC ran out of superpower ideas provided great laughs as did exploring all the exciting and dangerous things that could acquired via mail order for under $10.
Richard loves to poke fun at the other nerds around him – Making fun of cos players (people that dress up as characters – especially from anime) is a little bit of a cheap shot, but it’s still very funny. The stories of death threats from Juggalos (fans of the band Insane Clown Posse) was comedy that just wrote itself.
Exploring obscure topics such as the somewhat lame original members of the Justice League, it would be easy for those not versed in the specific brands of nerdiness here to get lost, but Richard’s enthusiasm and passion for his subject make everything accessible.
