Adam Hills – Joymonger
I find Adam Hills an incredibly engaging story teller and his tales of everyday wonder feel almost poetic. I always leave his shows feeling inspired to live life to the fullest because he has a way of encouraging his audience to see the joy around us, and often when there is none, to create your own joy.

If you would like to be a part of the show then make sure you’re just a little bit late. Adam spent the first 15 minutes racing around the theatre to meet and greet late comers – interrogating them as to why they were late, among other things, in the friendliest, Hillsy kind of way.
This show is based on the notion of rules and bureaucracy taking precedence over common sense and where this can be seen in many places and governments around the world. Adam explains some truly bizarre laws that exist in foreign countries and re-enacts various conversations with some of colourful characters he has met in his travels.
For those of you who weren’t aware, Adam has an artificial right foot. Adam tells of some of the ignoramus’ he has encountered who have not quite known what to say, which provides one of the funniest segments of the show.
I’m convinced that Adam has as much fun up on stage as his audiences enjoy watching him, which is part of his charm. If you love “Spicks and Specks” but you haven’t seen Adam perform stand up before, you may seriously be underestimating his prowess as a comedian. You should remedy that now.
