For most folks being with it is a way of life so it becomes hard to understand those who aren’t hip.

On Saturday night, “Lawrence Leung”:comic let us in on his mission to become cool like his bitchin’ big brother, Dennis.

Incidentally, Dennis plays bass guitar and is a pharmacist.

Proving that male sibling rivalry is an excellent topic for comedy, Lawrence Leung Learns to Breakdance was a hilarious – make that absolutely hilarious even though using adverbs is completely dorky – insight into how wearing the right clothes, having the ability to pick up women, possessing the correct attitude and being able to boogie like a mother from the hood can make a person groovy.

Leung, whose tiny bout of nerves did nothing to hide the fact that he’s a natural performer, entertained with such delights as when he tried to score with a member of the audience.

This seduction was done with the assistance of twaddle from “The Game”, the holy book for sexist wankers who need all the help they can get.

The Melburnian, who’s as cute as a kitten who has grown a beard in an attempt to look older, was also very funny when relating he and his brother’s response to a jealous boyfriend who resorted to racism (“Fuck off, Jackie Chans”) to get the lads away from his girlfriend.

Not to be missed was the video of Leung and his geeky mates participating in a competition in Federation Square against some breakdancing gents.

How Leung and the rest of The Power of Three emerged from the contest in one piece is anyone’s guess.

There was so much in the production that was brilliant it’s hard to say what the finest bits were because everything was, as Tina Turner would sing, “simply the best”.

Even if Leung’s show has a frenetic feel, it’s well-structured with a lot of work obviously going into the writing process.

Leung may or may not be cool, but he’s one hell of a stand-up, and Lawrence Leung Learns to Breakdance was totally radical, dudes.

“Lawrence Leung Learns to Breakdance” is playing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) until the 29th of April. Information about purchasing tickets is available at “Breakdance”:http://www.comedyattrades.com.au/ticketing/show_92
