Michael Chamberlin honours the Australian tradition of calling one’s mates by anything but their real names in his forthcoming Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) venture, Buddha & Bluey & Me.

According to Michael, his show will be about a couple of friends he’s had since he was a little Mick.
As a matter of fact, these fellows attended the same Catholic school as the critically-acclaimed funny chap.
Evidently, tales of a protest related to football and the lads appearing in a nativity play together are just a couple of the experiences the stand-up will be joking about during his act.
Since Michael’s MySpace site says he’s 1cm tall, it’s possible he played a malnourished baby Jesus in the famous Christmas drama when he was a student at Xavier College.
The Melburnian’s last MICF effort, Michael Chamberlin and The Ten Commandments, earned him an excellent review on The Groggy Squirrel, and a negative mention in a column by the Herald Sun’s expert on all things laughable, Andrew Bolt.
At this year’s Festival, Michael promises he won’t be swearing much, which should come as a relief to his mum1 and those Jesuits who undoubtedly wouldn’t want credit for taking the boy and giving us the crude man.
Michael doesn’t think his new show will be criticised by conservative commentators, but time will tell.
For people planning to only attend MICF events by hunks such as Danny Bhoy and Wil Anderson, it should be noted that contrary to popular opinion Michael’s non-yelling voice isn’t girly a bit.
However, he did think he might’ve been coming down with a cold.
Incidentally, fans of the former skitHouse star can look forward to his involvement in the new series of Rove Live.
Michael Chamberlin – Buddha & Bluey & Me is on at MICF from 5 to 29 April. Further details can be found on the MICF website.
1 It’s my sad duty to inform Mrs. Chamberlin that her son used the “c-word” during my interview with him.
