Welcome to the future of music comedy. A winner of a number of internationally acclaimed comedy awards, Tim Minchin is musically brilliant and comedically sublime. In comedy-time he has been on the scene for 5 minutes and has already sold out around the world and has two CDs. Audiences lucky enough to get a ticket to this show will understand why, right from the opening number.
The tunes are intricate and could stand alone in the Fringe program as part of the music program, but Tim offers more – hilariously dark lyrics. Unlike his colleagues such as Tripod, Scared Weird Little Guys, Lano and Woodley and Elbowskin who offer audiences light and bubbly lyrics. Tim gets into the back alleys of human nature.
Complete with unkempt hair, mascara, trench coat and bare feet Tim surprises audience with songs with titles such as “Fat Children”, If You Really loved Me” and ‘If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out”. In a style similar to that of a Hugh Grant character, Tim punctuates the shows with awkward almost bumbling yet laugh out loud song introductions.
An absolute must see.
