After meeting last year, James Lieutenant and Ben Ellwood have performed together often at Sydney’s Comedy Store and on The Comedy Channel’s “Stand Up Australia”. As part of The Cracker Comedy Festival, the boys have once again joined forces to present the show ‘Painful Truths’.

Ben and James have been described as polar opposites in their styles with James being the intellectual and Ben the instinctual. James explained that “Ben is a very hard hitting, telling it like it is, blink and you’ll miss it type of comic. There is very little sitting on the fence with Ben. He’s very blunt and bold. [Whereas] I’m more slowed down and abstract. Why use two words when one will do?”

The show itself is “a straight down the line stand up show [with] separate sets. It’ll be hard, fast and coming right at you…It’ll be just us standing on stage with a mic in hand, but through that mic you’ll hear some surprises”.

With a title such as “Painful Truths” there is sure to be some personal stories relayed on stage. “Ben and I both believe that comedians should be very honest about their craft,’ James explained. ‘This brings out a personal side to both our comedy, which can be painful, but always funny. It’s the old ‘behind the clown is really a crying child’”.

Painful Truths will be performed at The Boiler Room @ The Factory Theatre ( 105 Victoria Road, Enmore, NSW ) on Wed 21st and Thurs 22nd of March. The show starts at 9pm and tickets are $17. Click here for further details.
