The Oscars may be just around the corner but closer to home the Green Room Awards, which recognise excellence in live performance, have been announced, with some of Australia’s comedy luminaries getting a nod.
Sammy J, Trent Baumann and Geraldine Quinn have all received nominations in the Emerging Cabaret Artiste category, while Tina C and Tim Minchin are nominated for Cabaret Artiste. Tim also got a second nod, along with La Clique, for the Most Outstanding Cabaret Show. Magda Szubanski has been nominated for Female Artist in a Featured Role for her performance in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, and, for her performance in “Eurobeat: Almost Eurovision”, Julia Zemiro has received a nomination for Female Artist In A Leading Role.
