As part of the 2007 St Kilda Festival this year (February 3rd to the 11th), we will see the advent of the inaugural The St Kilda Laughs Festival.
Supported by Bendigo Bank, St Kilda Festival, Comedy Knockout and Advanced Amusements, the The St Kilda Laughs Festival will feature on February 3 & 4 the St Kilda Laughs Comedy Convention, which is described as a convention for new comics, working comedians and people who would like to have a try at comedy. This convention will showcase the industry in all areas Media and Live Comedy performance, with featured speakers workshops and New Comic Showcase Events over two days including: Dave O’Neil on working in the Media. Brad Oakes will present a workshop on performance,writing & stagecraft. The Crew on Impro performance, with guest panelists , Bev Killick on the road in between for comics on their way. Bev brings survival tips in the comedy jungle. Tony Day talks on tech and lighting for a comedy show. Tony is a professional Tech specializing in lighting and sound, learn from Tony about PA Equipment from hire to set up and the importance of lighting. Sammy J will present a one hour workshop on Musical Comedy- Panel discussions include CJ Fortuna, Marty Lappan, Janelle Koenig, Vanessa Bennett, Lawrence Mooney & more to be announced. There will also be a Hot Comics Showcase plus a opportunity for anyone who wants to have a go to jump up on stage and make us laugh.
