2006 Fringe Festival Reviews

The Hound of the Baskervilles

A couple of shows have really impressed me in this year’s festival, and none moreso than this one. The Hound of the Baskervilles is an explosion of energy, laughs and incredible talent.

After a slightly awkward introduction where the premise of the missing film reels is introduced, Rob Lloyd, Adam McKenzie and Tegan Higginbotham come together to recreate a film classic. Taking a slightly looser interpretation of the material, the film is recreated through a filter of absurdity that results in something much more than the original.

Everything about this performance screams professionalism. From the endless wave of character changes to the recreation of projection difficulties, every moment is impeccably timed and executed – the fact that the show has come together so perfectly on opening night is impressive. Even the inclusion of a brief impro game is seamlessly integrated.

This show has only a short one week season, so get in quick as this is not a show to be missed.
