The winners of the if.comeddie awards were announced on the weekend. The if.comeddie awards (often referred to as “The Eddies”) take the place of the the Perrier awards in Edinburgh.
The main award has gone to Phil Nicol for his show “The Naked Racist”. Other nominated shows included David O’Doherty Is My Name”, Russell Howard for “Wandering”, Paul Sinha with “Saint or Sinha?” and “Klangbang” by We Are Klang (Greg Davies, Steve Hall and Marek Larwood).
The award for best newcomer went to Josie Long for her show “Kindness and Exuberance”. Other nominees in this category were “Fat Tongue”, “God’s Pottery: Concert for La Vert”, “Andrew Lawrence: How To Butcher Your Loved Ones”, and “Russell Kane’s Theory of Pretension”
The panel prize was awarded to Mark Watson in acknowledgement of his marathon thirty six hour gig.
