Venue: C Chambers St
The “IT Girls” is the tale of a man who is trying to get his two flighty daughters married off. More than that, I can’t be sure as it does devolve into a French farce. The girls are out of some Jane Austen nightmare and their potential boyfriends (a marquis and viscount) are a couple of sleazes in lace. Still, I laughed a lot and enjoyed some of the corny lines that came out of the show. I just wish I could understand the plot, which seemed a bit obscure. The best character in the play was the maid, and she reminded me a little of a Chav version of Joy (from Drop the Dead Donkey).
The play will appeal to those who enjoy a light fluffy piece with some attractive people and a little undie work near the end. There is no swearing and only a little audience interaction (I didn’t ask to get a lap-dance from the boys! Ewwww). It only runs for 45 minutes and will be the perfect way to settle that big Edinburgh lunch down!
