Starring: Anastasia Travers and Hazel Anderson Venue: C Central (North Bridge)
Travers and Foley (as they are known) are a fairly new duo with unknown pedigrees (at least to me). They both appear to be in their late 20s or early 30s and the title of the show is a bit of a misnomer as they probably aren’t tarts (but you do see some knickers).
This is a show being staged in a large venue (about 100 seater) but which had a disappointingly small crowd). The show starts with a breakfast show for Chavs (Chavs are best described Council House & Vulgar – a bit like a UK version of bogans). The girls talk about what’s going down on the estate and other such details of the modern lifestyle. There are some very funny lines here as well as some appalling puns. After this we have a video segment for a show called Daddy’s Girls, where the duo are seen asking some searching questions about life and why they are so much better than us. These appear at the end of each sketch and are generally hilarious, though sometimes hard to hear as they were taped in some pretty dodgy locales.
The other sketches in the show are of variable quality and in one or two cases go on a bit long, but on the whole the flow is kept up and the audience is kept entertained. The sketch where Mary is being interviewed, the two upper class ladies pushing the double entendre envelope, the acting lesson on a deserted island and the country song were my favourites. The show ends with our two Chav hosts coming back and saying goodbye. There was quite a bit of horse-play during this and I was wondering how much was scripted. Still they looked like they were having a whale of a time and the small audience laughed a lot and clapped long and loudly at the end. If you are looking for a bit of naughty and many bad puns, you will have a lot of fun at this show. Go and see it!
