Venue: C3 Chambers St
Well, we’re back with another panto version of a Shakespeare play. This time it’s the Taming of the Shrew that gets the job done on it. The cast are five young ladies and a lot of costume changes. The audience is cheerful and full of free coffee and croissants, and willing to join in the panto spirit of the occasion. This is the third time I have seen this show (that is, three different shows in four years) and I have enjoyed all of them. Last year’s take on I’m a Celebrity was funny even though I missed most of the cultural references. This year I was ready for any ‘local’ references, but needn’t have worried as love, lust and cat fights transcend borders.
The cast do an excellent job in a fast paced and colourful tale where the sisters need to be wed in the correct order to make dad happy. More you do not need to know, except it starts at 10 am and is selling out, so get your tickets early and a good nights sleep. Bring the kids along too!
