Venue: The Jazz Bar (next to C in Chambers St)
Mount Rushmore’s Babes is performed by four young ladies from Loughborough Uni, who are up here giving it a go, and why not. The show started off strongly with a song, using the music from Chicago, which was very well performed. Then they let the side down by doing a bunch of hoary old jokes based on stereotypes. They bring the interest back with some sketches that sometimes work, and sometimes don’t. The finale is another song, based on My Way in which the team summarises their show with brutal honesty but entreat the audience to find it in their hearts to forgive them and bring their friends. There was enough good stuff in this show for me to recommend giving it a try. You’ll be in a bar, so you can have a drink if they don’t meet your approval, and just maybe you’ll see something you didn’t expect. However this show would benefit greatly from having an objective script editor to drop most of the bad jokes.
